Biota analysis is the determination of the accumulation levels of toxic substances in plant and animal tissues. The determination of toxic residues in organisms populating a contaminated area is an important part of the ecological risk assessment process. GCAL’s biota lab performs methodologies for tissue extraction and analysis on a variety of matrices. Several projects have included analyses involving:
- Fish, Amphibians, Turtles, Oysters, Shrimp
- Animal Tissue and Target Organs
- Plant Life, Roots, Bark, Leaves, Marsh Grass
- Sediment and Sediment Dwelling Crawfish
Almost any type of biota can be analyzed. For more information call 225-769-4900.
